Fayetteville wreck kills motorcyclist

Fayetteville police said that charges are pending in a two-vehicle wreck early Saturday that killed a motorcyclist. Speed and alcohol were factors in the wreck, police said.

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — Fayetteville police said that charges are pending in a two-vehicle wreck early Saturday that killed a motorcyclist.

Police said that around 2 a.m., Jason Taft, 22, of Kingscreek Drive, lost control of his 2005 Nissan Titan pickup truck going east along Country Club Drive, near Murchison Road. The pickup crossed the center line and struck a 2001 Yamaha motorcycle head-on.

The motorcyclist, whose name wasn't released, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police said that speed and alcohol were factors in the wreck. The investigation was ongoing.
