Fayetteville, N.C. — A Fayetteville woman was hit by a bullet Sunday that went through a wall in her home, police said.
Lillian Alcala, 57, told police she was working on a computer in her living room when something hit her in the head. She said she initially thought lightning had struck her apartment building in the 6400 block of Applecross Drive, but then she and a friend found a bullet hole in the wall, police said.
Alcala was listed in fair condition Monday at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center.
Police asked for the public's help Monday in identifying a person of interest. The man goes by the nickname “Champ” and is described as black, 25 to 30 years old, 5 feet 8 inches to 5 feet 9 inches tall and 200 to 225 pounds with unkempt hair and a beard.
Anyone with information about the man or the shooting is asked to call Detective M. Taylor with the Fayetteville Police Department at 910-303-9751 or Crime Stoppers at 910-483-8477.
