Fayetteville woman killed in auto crash

Posted October 12, 2012

— Fayetteville police say a 21-year-old woman was killed Friday afternoon in a crash.

The wreck happened shortly before 3 p.m. near Cliffdale Road and Lynhurst Drive when a 2003 Pontiac van trying to turn left crashed into a 1996 Jeep.

Investigators say the van's driver, Clark McKinley, 53, failed to yield the right of way, hit the Jeep, causing it to cross the center line and roll over.

The Jeep's driver, Abigail Borgstadt, died.

McKinley, who was not injured, was charged with misdemeanor death by motor vehicle and failure to yield the right of way.

Again, people not abiding by the rules of the road and trying to bully their way through or avoiding a wreck. Doesn't matter why. A life was lost; for nothing, and nobody involved will ever be the same. I'm sorry for everyone involved.

Very sad...my thoughts and condolences to Ms. Borgstadt's family.

Also, my thoughts to Mr. McKinley who will forever replay in his mind those few seconds of inattention.
