Fayetteville woman faces list of charges after police chase

Posted January 3, 2011

— A Fayetteville woman was arrested early Sunday morning on a list of charges after she and three companions ran from police who attempted to stop their car.

Fayetteville police said four people jumped and ran from a Toyota Camry near the intersection of Longbranch Drive and Longbranch Court when officers pulled the car over.

When the four were captured, officers found that one woman, Deena Washington, 22, was wanted on charges ranging from driving without a license to possession of drugs and paraphernalia to identity theft and assault with a deadly weapon. There were 17 warrants for her arrest.

Washington was being held Monday in the Cumberland County Jail on $117,000 bond.

In a search of the car, officers found purses, credit cards and identification cards linked to crimes reported on New Year's Eve on Eastern Boulevard and Reilly Road. Authorities returned two purses to their owners, but they did not charge anyone with those crimes.

Police did not identify the others who were in the car with Washington.

Attitude is what got her in trouble in the first place. Send her to prison and they will change it quickly.

I am sick of everytime someone does something wrong it always comes down to "oh she wasn't loved" "oh she needs the right guidance" when are people going to start being held accountable for themselves? She is a grown woman who knows the difference between right and wrong.

17 warrants for her arrest...there's the problem. The courts will not keep these kind of people locked up. Their history has proven that they will continue to prey on the public. I wish the court system would protect the citizens from these repeat criminals.
