Fayetteville woman charged for allowing minor near sex offender
Cumberland County authorities have arrested and charged a Fayetteville woman for caring for a minor in her home where a registered sex offender lived.

According to investigators, 58-year-old Rebecca Ferrer said she knew that her husband, 58-year-old Manuel Ferrer, had a prior conviction for a sex offense in New Jersey during a nine-year period in which he allegedly abused a child in their Reno Drive home.
Between 2003 and 2012, the victim moved in and out of the home several times, investigators said. The victim also alleges that Rebecca Ferrer and her husband told her to hide when deputies visited the home to conduct compliance checks.
Manuel Ferrer is in the Cumberland County jail under a $1.4 million secured bond.
Rebecca Ferrer was arrested Wednesday and released on a $3,000 bond. She will go before a judge in Cumberland County Thursday.
According to the North Carolina Sex Offender Registry, Ferrer was convicted in another state in 1995 and listed on the registry since 2005. His victim was 18 or older.
