Fayetteville VA waits are 2nd longest in nation
A study by the Department of Veterans Affairs shows veterans in Fayettteville have the second-longest wait in the country to see a doctor.

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — A study by the Department of Veterans Affairs shows veterans in Fayettteville have the second-longest wait in the country to see a doctor.
On average, veterans wait about seven days to see a primary care physician, the study showed.
For patients of the Fayetteville VA Medical Center, that wait can stretch to almost 30 days.
Fayetteville was second only to the Hampton VA Medical Center and its regional clinics, where the average wait is 30.53 days.
In Fayetteville, the average wait is 28.45 days. The national average is 6.95 days.
Hampton VA director Michael Dunfee told media outlets on Tuesday that the hospital is addressing the problem.
Dunfee says the hospital is hiring primary care doctors. Expansions are underway at the campus Hampton and a clinic in Virginia Beach.
The expansions will add 11 primary rooms at the hospital and up to 20 rooms at the clinic.
