— Cumberland County authorities said Monday that they have charged a Fayetteville teenager with assaulting his nephew and killing his younger sister's pet frog.

Zjondelle Allen Patrick, 16, of 2323 Indian Creek Drive, is charged with first-degree kidnapping, assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury, assaulting a child under 12, cruelty to animals and extortion. He was being held Monday in the Cumberland County jail after his parents refused to take custody of him, authorities said.

Investigators said Patrick, a student at Pine Forest High School, held his 4-year-old nephew against his will on Saturday, cutting the child with a knife and burning him with a cigarette lighter.

Earlier last week, investigators said, Patrick told his 3-year-old sister he would kill her pet frog if she didn’t give him her doughnut. He then dropped the frog into a jar of boiling water and watched it die as the girl ran for help.

No charges should be file, he is just a teen ager and does not have the correct understanding of what he has done, just tell him not to do it again and that he need just to say he is sorry and that should be the end of the matter,

Go straight to jail and keep him there before he kills somebody....and if he is let out to do as he pleases he will kill somebody. Just a matter of time. There are some people who are beyond fixing and he seems to fit the part.

But he is only a child he could not have done what he is accused of!!! When he is shot and killed for attacking someone who identifies himself as hispanic there will be a rally in support of this 16 year old young man.

As a parent, I can not imagine how I would feel turning away my child. I applaud them for having that courage. This young person needs help and prayers. I pray for the whole family in this situation.

This kid really needs help. There is such a thing as child sociopaths and he appears to be one of them.

I seriously doubt that this is this boys first experience w/ things like this and if he doesn't soon get the help he needs (AND take him off the streets for a while) he will be in the news again for something much worse.
