— A Fayetteville teenager was arrested Tuesday in connection to a sexual assault that occurred over the summer.

Police said that the incident, which occurred in the 1100 block of Pasture Lane, involved a 9-year-old girl.

Michael Van Royal Autry, 16, of the 1100 block of Pasture Lane, was charged with first degree sex offense with a child.

Autry was being held at the Cumberland County Detention Facility under $50,000 secured bond.

    Well, there is not a lot of details here. Was he previously on the SO registry? If so how was able to be around a child. That is a very rhetorical question. One they were busy chasing misdemeanors on the registry and two the registry does not work because it has become so diluted with volume, and not enough concentration on the real dangerous people.

    Why was he alone with the girl? Did he know her? Was it a random act. Are there witnesses, I sure hope so, or this character walks.

    Not a lot of detail here, which opens it up for wild speculation.
