— Two men charged in a June robbery and killing were caught in Louisiana this past weekend, Fayetteville police said Monday.

U.S. marshals arrested Xavier Christian Freeman, 20, of Harriman Court in Cameron, and Willie James Dean Jr., 20, no address listed, Saturday on charges of first-degree murder, armed robbery and conspiracy in the June 18 death of Jeremy Lockett, 25, of Fayetteville.

Freeman and Dean were placed in the Lafayette Parish Correctional Center, pending extradition to Cumberland County.

A third suspect, Charles Calvin Bush, 30, of the 1200 block of Lands End Drive in Fayetteville, is being held in the Cumberland County jail under the same charges.

Lockett and another man were sitting in a car parked outside Quality Cigars in the Strickland Bridge Center Shopping Center, police said, when two men got into the backseat, tried to rob them and then shot Lockett.

Bush surrendered to police on June 27, and detectives developed information that Freeman and Dean had traveled to Louisiana, police said.

Bush was convicted in 2005 of three counts of armed robbery, four counts of felony breaking-and-entering and two counts each of breaking-and-entering motor vehicles and larceny after breaking-and-entering, according to state Division of Adult Correction records. He served 3½ years in prison.

Just glad the officers got them and I pray the courts will lock them away in prison for life.

Scubagirl, it looks like Mr. Bush should have been old enough to receive a just sentence back in 2005 at the age of 23 or 24 for nine charges, four of which were felonies, but only served 3 and 1/2 years. I agree with you that they should be old enough but our justice system is proving this does not happen as most of us think it should.

Why was the Bush guy only in prison for 3.5 years? These criminals just get out and do the same thing all over again, we need harsher sentences for these people.
