— Cumberland County police charged a teenager on Wednesday in the death of a Fayetteville man.

Cedric Darnell Williams, 17, of 1338 Shaw Road, outside Fayetteville, is charged with second degree murder in the Tuesday night shooting death of 24-year-old Ian Justin Smith, of 320 Ingram Street.

Investigators said Smith was shot multiple times as he was leaving Williams’ home shortly before 8 p.m. Investigators said the pair began to argue and Williams allegedly fired a gun at Smith as he exited the home.

Emergency crews were dispatched to the crime scene and Smith was transported to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.

Williams is being held in the Cumberland County Detention Center under a $100,000 bond.

Smith’s body is being sent to the State Medical Examiner’s Office for autopsy.
