— Cumberland County investigators have charged a registered sex offender with child exploitation crimes, authorities said Friday.

Ronald Ashby, 54, of 870 Ridge Road in Fayetteville, was taken into custody after investigators found a collection of pornography showing children of various ages engaging in sexual activities during a search of his home and his computer, authorities said.

Ashby was charged with nine counts of second-degree sexual exploitation of a minor and nine counts of third-degree sexual exploitation of a minor. He was being held in the Cumberland County Detention Center under a $145,000 secured bond.

I don't understand. How does child pornography get online anyway. Shouldn't law officials go after the people who post material like that on the web as well as child offenders like Ashby?

Pedophiles never change. The State of California tried to rehabilitate some a few years back, and after years of trying, gave up, claiming they could NOT be rehabilitated, they were simply attracted to children like normal adults are attracted to other adults.

So why do we let them walk the streets? Once identified, and especially if charged and found guilty of child sex offenses, why are they not put somewhere for the rest of their lives where they will not be a threat to children?

Decades ago, those with certain incurable diseases were segregated for life so the rest would be safe from their disease.

Why can we not do the same with child sex offenders to keep children forever safe from them???
