Fayetteville raid yields five arrests

Fayetteville police arrested five people Friday after a search of a home netted drugs and weapons.

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — Fayetteville police arrested five people Friday after a search of a home netted drugs and weapons.

Members of the Fayetteville Police Department Emergency Response Team and the Cross Creek Special Projects Unit arrived at 300 Longbranch Court just before 7 p.m. Friday to find people weighing and packaging drugs in the front yard.

Authorities seized 23 grams of marijuana, 5.5 grams of cocaine, six pistols, 13 rifles, body armor and a gas mask.

They arrested Devin Byers, 20, and Rochelle Byers, 71, both of 300 Longbranch Court; Jamal Johnson, 24, of 6317 Greg Cliff Drive; Daniel Smith, 22, of 2920 Dwelle Drive; and Lafayette Avery, 20, of 5413 Cactus Court.

In all, the men face 22 charges – 17 of them felonies – related to possession, manufacture and sale of narcotics.
