Fayetteville post office on list for closure

Posted August 3, 2009

— The post office in Fayetteville's Haymount section, at 106 Oakridge Ave., is among those targeted for closure. The United States Postal Service submitted the list of 677 locations to a Congressional subcommittee Monday.

Sources told The Washington Post that the committee was expected to cut the list by about two-thirds, meaning only about 200 locations would ultimately close.

Why did the post office ever open that station? It has to be within a mile, maybe two, of the main post office on Green St.

Wouldn't an outlaying community have been better served by these resources?

Figures. I drive half way across town to use this Post Office becuase the staff is efficient and friendly. Why not close the Tokay station, those folks don't have a clue!
