Fayetteville police trying to locate car after sex assault

Police on Friday asked for the public's help in identifying the car used by a suspected rapist following a Monday sexual assault.

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — Police on Friday asked for the public's help in identifying the car used by a suspected rapist following a Monday sexual assault.

A woman told investigators that she was on the 4300 block of Bragg Boulevard early Monday and accepted a ride from a man in a gray, older-model Honda sedan.

The man pulled out a gun and threatened to shoot the woman if she tried to escape, she told police. She said he drove to an an area behind a church on Shaw Road near Old Shaw Road, where he raped her, stole her purse and phone and drove away.

The assailant was described as black with a medium complexion, mid to late 40s, 5 feet 5 inches to 5 feet 7 inches tall and about 140 to 160 pounds. He had a goatee that appeared to be well-kept.
