Fayetteville police search for man who stabbed girlfriend

Police have charged Jonathan Mitchel Wright with attempted first-degree murder and assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury.

— Fayetteville police are searching for a man who they said stabbed his girlfriend Friday afternoon.

Investigators said that Jonathan Mitchel Wright, 35, of the 2600 block of Mellwood Drive was involved in an argument with his girlfriend, Michelle Lee Taylor, at the Red Roof Inn at 3136 Bordeaux Park Drive at about 1 p.m. Friday, when he stabbed her.

Taylor, 31, of the 340 block of Coats Road in Linden, was taken to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center with several stab wounds to her shoulders and chest, one of which caused her lung to collapse, police said.

Police have charged Wright with attempted first-degree murder and assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury.
