Fayetteville police probe two sex assaults in two days

Two women reported being sexually assaulted over the weekend in Fayetteville, police said Monday.

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — Two women reported being sexually assaulted over the weekend in Fayetteville, police said Monday. 

Both cases are under investigation.

Police said that a woman got into an altercation with two white men under the Person Street Bridge around 4:30 p.m. Saturday. The men tried to assault her, but she got away.

On Sunday, around 2:20 p.m., a different woman reported being sexually assaulted by two black men near the intersection of North Cool Spring and Meeting streets.

No other information was released.
