Fayetteville, N.C. — Fayetteville police are investigating a fatal shooting that they believe happened Sunday afternoon near a local shopping center.
Officers were called to Cape Fear Valley Hospital shortly before 1:30 p.m. after Joshua Maultsby, 19, showed up there to be treated for a gunshot wound. By the time police arrived, however, he had died.
Investigators say that the motive for the shooting appears to be robbery, and they believe Maultsby was shot near Tallywood Shopping Center.
They only have a vague description of a shooter, who was described as being a stocky man between the ages of 19 and 22.
Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to contact the Fayetteville Police Department at 910-391-2529 or Crime Stoppers at 910-483-7477.
