Fayetteville, N.C. — A pedestrian was killed early Wednesday after being hit by a car near the intersection of McArthur Road and Center Street, the Cumberland County Sheriff's Office said. 

Authorities responding to the area about 3 a.m. found a man in the street. He was taken to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center, where he later died, officials said. 

The pedestrian's name has not been released, and it wasn't clear if the driver would face charges. 

No other information has been released.
