FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — A Fayetteville police officer was hurt Wednesday in a car crash at Hay and Robeson streets.

Police said Officer Garrett Chapman was taken to a nearby hospital with injuries that did not appear to be life-threatening.

Chapman was turning left from Robeson Street onto Hay Street when he was hit by someone running a red light, police said. The driver, Robert Bateman, did not have a license and was charged with driving without a license and failure to yield at a red light. He was unhurt.
