Fayetteville, N.C. — A two-month internal investigation has turned up insufficient evidence of embezzlement to pursue criminal charges, the Fayetteville Police Department said Friday.
The department began investigating the possible theft of departmental funds in March.
The person who was the focus of the investigation no longer works for the city, the department said in a statement issued Friday.
The person wasn't identified and no other information about the investigation was released.
