Fayetteville police investigate suspicious death

Fayetteville, N.C. — Police on Thursday were investigating the slaying of a man in an incident that initially was reported as a suicide.
Zavreail Holmes, 30, of 5748 Aftonshire Drive, was found dead in his home early Wednesday. Officers initially responded to a call reporting a suicide, but police determined the case was a homicide.
Holmes was apparently assaulted, police said, but the cause of death is undetermined until autopsy results are available from the State Medical Examiner’s Office.
No information on possible suspects or a motive was released.
