FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — The Fayetteville Police Department announced that it has won re-accreditation from an international law-enforcement group for the sixth consecutive time.

The department received another three-year endorsement from the International Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Inc. The group performs thorough assessments on agencies every three years.

Chief Tom Bergamine said that he is extremely proud of this achievement, particularly having gone through all the reviews since the department first received accreditation 19 years ago.

The Fayetteville Police Department was the fourth agency in North Carolina and 122nd to be accredited by CALEA.

CALEA accreditation is voluntary and brings a nationally recognized award of excellence to the department.
