Fayetteville PD search for man who stole iPhones

Posted June 12, 2013

— Fayetteville police are searching for a man who stole two iPhones from a store on Morganton Road earlier this month.

Police said the man entered Southeast Paging on June 1 and starting browsing the merchandise. A store employee heard an alarm and looked to find the man fleeing the store with the phones.

Employees told police they tried to confront the man, but he showed a gun and drove off in a silver Chevrolet Mailbu.

His image was captured on the store’s security video. He is described as between 5 feet 9 inches and 5 feet 11 inches tall with a goatee.

Anyone with information about the call is asked to call detectives at 910-237-9374 or Crime Stoppers at 910-483-8477.

Crime Stoppers pays cash rewards for information leading to an arrest, and callers may remain confidential.

These phones are probably already on Craigslist.

If the store did everything right, they should have the Serial # and IMEI # for that display phone. Once it's connected to iTunes or turned on, it will be trackable. However, the store and police do NOT have access to the resources to help them track it using that manner.
