— A Fayetteville police officer was uninjured when his patrol car was rammed during a chase Tuesday afternoon, police said.

Officers were trying to stop a Ford pickup for speeding shortly after 1:30 p.m., and the truck driver refused to pull over, police said. The truck ran into a police cruiser on the on-ramp of the All-American Freeway at Sante Fe Drive and continued driving.

The driver jumped from the truck after pulling into a cul-de-sac on Plateau Court, and officers arrested him after a brief chase on foot, police said.

The identities of the driver and the officer who was hit haven't been released.

Just for your clarification it was not an accident! It was an assault with a deadly weapon and a crash! And this is real life not a movie with people wearing shoulder pads and protective gear! And since WRAL will not let me tell you what my real opinion is I will just stop here!!

Would Dons wife rather the truck rammed her and her child instead a LEO. Yep accidents happen and many times it is someone that was obeying the laws that get injured or killed.

thanks for the info, but are we gonna report cops being okay every time? i understand if the cops car rolled over, and basically was considered scrap metal, but he was in an accident... that happens sometimes in a police chase. DonsWife12

I personally think its a good thing to report cops are ok after being involved in a accident. The story said his patrol car was rammed. Do you know if the truck that rammed him was going 25 mph or 60 mph? For all you know, his car may look like scrap metal....
