— A man wanted in a weekend shooting death in Fayetteville has been found dead of a self-inflicted gunshot wound, authorities said Thursday.

A body found Wednesday morning behind a home in the 6600 block of Radcliff Court was confirmed as that of Anthony Curtis Macneill.

Cumberland County authorities were searching for Macneill, 32, of 6874 Green Creek Drive, in connection with the fatal shooting Sunday morning of Eugene Racine, the father of Macneill's former girlfriend, at Racine's home on Wake Forest Road.

After the shooting, Macneill made several Facebook posts discussing the killing and saying he would kill himself if he couldn't flee from North Carolina.

Racine's father said Macneill had sent threatening messages to his granddaughter and had previously fought with his son.
