Fayetteville motel fire displaces 41 guests

Fayetteville, N.C. — Fayetteville fire investigators aren't sure yet what caused a fire at a local Travel Inn on Eastern Boulevard Saturday afternoon.
Firefighters were called to the motel, at 321 Eastern Boulevard, shortly after 4 p.m., where they found heavy smoke pouring form the building.
It is unclear what started the fire, but investigators said 41 people were displaced.
There were no reports of injuries. Guests were moved to the Smith Recreation Center on Slater Avenue.
According to authorities, the recreation center will be closed to the public on Sunday due to serving as a shelter to the displaced guests.
The Salvation Army of Fayetteville will open their shelter on Sunday to guests who wish to move form the recreation center, according to a spokesperson.
The fire took about 30 minutes to put out.
