Authorities said Tuesday that Danny Clay Quick, 55, of Fayetteville, was struck in the face and lost consciousness after being robbed.

Sheriff's office spokeswoman Debbie Tanna said the assault happened at the Coliseum Inn on Gillespie Street in Fayetteville and that a person passing by saw Quick and called 911.

He was taken to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center, where he was being treated for severe trauma to the head, a sheriff's office spokeswoman said.

Further details about the assault weren't available, and anyone with any information that could help investigators is asked to contact the Cumberland County Sheriff's Office at 910-323-1500.
