Fayetteville man shot while sitting on front porch

One person was shot Thursday evening while sitting on the front porch of his home, Fayetteville police said.

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — One person was shot Thursday evening while sitting on the front porch of his home, Fayetteville police said.

The incident happened on the 100 block of Sherman Drive at about 7 p.m. Someone approached the man, produced a handgun, shot the man and fled in an unknown vehicle heading south on North Street, police said.

The man was taken to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center in serious condition.
