Fayetteville man shot in the face; suspect sought

A 48-year-old man was shot in the face in a Fayetteville neighborhood early Sunday and investigators are searching for a suspect, police said.

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — A 48-year-old man was shot in the face in a Fayetteville neighborhood early Sunday and investigators are searching for a suspect, police said.

Officers responding to calls about a shooting around 1:30 a.m. found Joseph McPeak wounded outside 1910 Center St., police said.

McPeak was taken to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center and then moved to UNC Hospitals at Chapel Hill, where he was listed in critical condition.

Police charged Christopher Antonio Lock, 22, with attempted murder, assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury and attempted robbery with a dangerous weapon.

Lock, whose last known address was listed as 5155 Hummingbird Place in Fayetteville, was not in custody Sunday night. Police are asking anyone with information on his whereabouts to call 911 or Crime Stoppers at 910-483-TIPS.

The suspect is known to frequent the Massey Hill area and goes by "Boo Boo." He should be considered armed and dangerous, police said.
