— A Fayetteville man was sentenced to 4 to 8 years in federal prison, followed by 10 years supervised release, after pleading guilty to possessing child pornography, federal prosecutors announced Wednesday.

Franklin Wade Meares, whose last address was 4217 Oakmont Circle, was arrested by Cumberland County deputies in October 2012 after an undercover investigation revealed that Meares was distributing child pornography from his computer through peer-to-peer software.

Over 12,000 images of children under 12 engaged in sexual activity was found on his computer, prosecutors said.

Why federal prison???? I object to him going to a federal day-camp prison. He needs to be in a place like central prison or worse.

WHY federal prison, that's like a vacation. Why not in the Gen POP with the hardened criminals that can have their way with this guy. WHat a sick sick person. I think he should get the death penalty. I mean really, he isn't gonna cure cancer, cure childhood diabetes, or cure alzheimers so why does he even get to breathe AND why do we have to feed, house and clothe this monster?????????

Good, but still not enough. How will the PD protect our young, after he is released? And don't tell me that is his PO's job. We all know they are under paid and over worked. Do our children even matter anymore? According to the justice system these days, I have to say NO.
