Fayetteville man drowns at Jordan Lake

print friendly

A Fayetteville man drowned in Jordan Lake Sunday afternoon, Chatham County officials said.

Steven Michael Hux, 61, swam out to get a boat that drifted away from the dock, off W.H. Jones Road, while he was trying to load it. His body was found around 6:10 p.m.

County officials said they believe the chill of the 56-degree water caused Hux to lose function in some of his limbs.

Praying for this man's family and friends. What a terrible tragedy. I hope and pray that this man knew Jesus Christ as his Lord & Saviour.

That's too bad. I spend a lot of time on the lake. Great times but the water can be a dangerous place. Hopefully people won't judge his decision too harshly. I fmy boat was drifting off I probably would have went for it too. Thoughts with his family. Gotta be tough
