Fayetteville man dies after being shot outside his home

Timothy Wayne Crossgrove was getting out of his car at about 10:30 p.m. Friday when a gunman approached him and tried to rob him, police said.

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — A Fayetteville man has died after being shot late Friday during a robbery attempt outside his home, police said.

Timothy Wayne Crossgrove, 37, of 362 Summerhil Road, was getting out of his car at about 10:30 p.m. Friday when a gunman approached him and tried to rob him, police said. Crossgrove died later Friday at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center.

No information was released as to possible suspects.
