Fayetteville man charged with sex crimes

Posted December 22, 2008

— Cumberland County sheriff’s detectives arrested a 44-year-old man Monday and charged him with sex crimes involving a young girl.

Investigators believe Howard Knight, Jr., whose last known address was the Value Place Motel on Bragg Boulevard, inappropriately touched the 10-year-old daughter of a female friend.

The girl told her mother about Knight's behavior, and the mother reported it to the sheriff's office.

Knight is charged with taking indecent liberties with a child, sexual act by substitute parent and first-degree statutory sexual offense. He was held in the Cumberland County Detention Center under $75,000 secured bond.

Let's review the story....his address is at a motel and the mother left the daughter there alone with him while she was doing what? If it was not her father or a relative, the child should not have been left with him. I don't no about most but I am very picky about who I leave my daughter with. i sure wouldn't leave her with a man that lived at a motel. He should be put under the jail though for his acts. When a parent leaves a child with someone, the child should be able to trust that person and be comfortable. This poor little girl will never be the same. I will keep her in my prayers. Also, I will pray that her mom has better judgement as to who she lets keep her daughter.

I agree warrior, what's going on here? twc and superman act as if this accusation is ridiculous and completely off base. Am I missing something?

I don't understand the comments, "it could have happened"

Also, I never understand why they say, sex crimes, it is abusive sexual crimes, it is never sexual content, if it is between an adult and a minor, (this is always criminal and abuse and should be prefaced by the word abusive sexual crimes)

Sounds a bit far fetched-- he "touched her".

The sad thing here is that this actually could have happened. We'll see.
