Fayetteville man charged with sex crimes against girl

Posted December 8, 2008

— Cumberland County sheriff’s detectives have charged a Fayetteville man with sex crimes involving a 12-year-old girl.

Deputies arrested Derry Dee Finney, 24, of 8650 Ramsey St., over the weekend after the girl told her father that Finney had touched her inappropriately.

The girl was visiting the Finney home with her parents when the incident happened, authorities said.

Finney is charged with taking indecent liberties with a child. Deputies held him in the Cumberland County Detention Center under a $10,000 secured bond.

He was scheduled to make a first court appearance at 2:30 p.m. Monday in the detention center courtroom.

I want to know where all the LEO's that get mad when LEO's names are put in here. This is what I say all the time. The guys name should not be in the paper until he is proven guilty. If he is guilty then its his problem, print his name all you want. The thing is now if anyone googles his name then this will come up no matter if he is proven completely innocent.

Too many details missing here in this story. The parents WERE there during this. Visiting him why, and what relation between the parents and him? Did they leave him alone with her?

Agree with Garnertoy, maybe he did, maybe he didn't - but is is pretty unsettling to know ANY MALE IN NC could be locked up just on a 12 year old's word.

thats what i mean if hes guilty and it should be investigated

Maybe he did, maybe he didn't. What bothers me about this is that a man is thrown into jail on a single accusation by a 12-year-old kid. Shouldn't there be a little more investigating?

why cant people go with their on age instead of a child unless it takes a child to make him fill like a man. I agree throw him under the jail

If this turns out to be true...throw him under the jail!!!
