— A Fayetteville man posted bond Thursday after being arrested on charges of raping a 4-year-old girl.

Fayetteville Police Youth Services detectives arrested James Knight, 56, of the 1300 block of Worstead Drive, on Thursday after a six-month-long investigation.

Knight was charged with first-degree rape of a child, taking indecent liberties with a child and first-degree sex offense on a child.

He was released from the Cumberland County Detention Center after posting a $10,000 unsecured bond.

Hey, those types of bonds are the norm in Cumberland County. A while back I recall a story of a triple shooting where one died and the suspect got a $50,000 secured bond. Although secured it seems pretty low for killing one and shooting two others.
Besides all of the recent stories about the Fayetteville PD have included complainants about LOW LOW bonds. Sadly, as some have pointed out, this animal was allowed to sign himself; an unsecured bond means no money involved.
As for talking about the strength of the case I would tend to think that a six-month long investigation would be a pretty solid case.

$10,000.00 bond? Are you kidding me? People that steal a hamburger get a higher bond than that. Whats wrong with the magistrate there.

If he's guilty, he deserves a minimum of life w/o parole.

Why wasn't he remanded w/o bond???

Remember this monster's face everyone! Remember him as if it were your child. He will get what's coming to him soon enough! May God have no mercy on this sick man's soul and protect this poor little girl. I can only imagine what's going through her mind. She's not even in Kindergarten yet, but has experienced something that is devastating to adults it's happened to.

OMG, What is Cumberland County thinking. $10,000 unsecured bond for RAPING a 4-Year Old ... COME ON! ... He should be sent straight to Central Prison in general population with everyone knowing what he did.. That would be justice.
