Fayetteville man charged with DWI after crash that killed pedestrian

A Fayetteville man was charged with DWI after striking and killing a pedestrian late Wednesday night, police said.

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — A Fayetteville man was charged with DWI after striking and killing a pedestrian late Wednesday night, police said.

Rafael Rosado, 59, of the 4000 block of Faison Avenue, was driving south on Purdue Drive just before midnight when he hit a pedestrian who was walking north. The pedestrian, identified as 28-year-old Bradley Oxendine, of Fayetteville, was taken to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center where he later died.

Rosado was charged with felonious death by motor vehicle, driving while impaired, lane violation, revoked license plate and no insurance, according to the Fayetteville Police Department.

Purdue Drive was closed briefly Thursday morning but reopened around 2:30 a.m.
