FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — Fayetteville police on Sunday charged a 60-year-old man in connection with a house fire at 2008 Powell St.

According to authorities, Billy Dale Walker set fire to the house after getting into an argument with other tenants and threatening to burn down the building.

Walker has been charged with first-degree arson in the incident. He was one of four people in the house at the time of the incident, according to police, and was taken to Cape Fear Valley Hospital to be treated for minor burns.

No one else was injured in the fire, which caused an estimated $30,000 in damage to the building. The fire was confined to the living room and front porch of the 800-square foot home. Six fire units responded, quickly containing the fire with the help of less than 1,000 gallons of water.

No other information was released.
