FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — Cumberland County Sheriff’s detectives have charged a suspect in connection with the armed robbery of a Spring Lake pawn shop last month.

Rubin Dale Bend Jr., 20, of 6213 Rhemish Drive, was arrested Wednesday.

Investigators say Bend was linked to the crime after attempting to sell items he had allegedly stolen from the robbery at Parkers Pawn on Highway 210.

A nationwide Internet program called “Leads On-Line,” used by law enforcement to track the sale of items in area pawn shops, helped locate Bend.

Detectives say two masked men entered Parker Pawn shortly after 9 a.m. on June 25. Both were armed as one of the bandits held employees hostage with a shotgun while inside the business.

Bend was being held in the Cumberland County Detention Center under a $55,000 secured bond. Detectives said they expect more arrests as the investigation continues.
