FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — A suspect in a December armed robbery at an ATM has been arrested, Fayetteville police announced Wednesday.

Investigators believe that Michael Werner Klein, 23, used a handgun to rob a woman at an ATM in the Cross Point Center, 5075 Morganton Road, on Dec. 5, police spokesman Gavin McRoberts said.

He said that investigators also developed evidence linking Klein to a Nov. 6 home break-in. They believe he sold the stolen property at a pawn shop later that month.

A coat matching one worn by the robber in ATM surveillance footage was found in Klein's home when he was arrested Monday, McRoberts said. Police also seized marijuana pipes and a bong from the residence at 221 Jasmine Drive.

Klein was charged with robbery with a dangerous weapon, conspiracy to commit robbery with a dangerous weapon, breaking and entering, larceny after breaking and entering, and two counts each of possession of stolen goods and obtaining property by false pretenses.

He was placed in the Cumberland County jail under a $27,500 bond.

Detectives are still searching for a co-conspirator in connection with the ATM robbery, McRoberts said. Anyone with information is asked to call Fayetteville police at 910-433-1856 or Crime Stoppers at 910-433-8477. Callers to Crime Stoppers don't have to give their names and are eligible for cash rewards that solve felonies.
