FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — Cumberland County deputies have arrested a Fayetteville man after he allegedly ran over his wife with his pickup following a domestic dispute, authorities said Friday.

Ronald Joseph Guilette, 29, of 5120 Buckskin Drive, is charged with assault with a deadly weapon. He was released from the Cumberland County jail on a $5,000 bond.

Authorities said Guilette got into a physical and verbal argument with his wife in their front yard on Thursday. During the altercation, he backed his truck out of the driveway and ran over her while she was standing in the street, authorities said.

Trisha Guilette, 29, was taken to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center with broken ribs, a broken pelvis, a concussion, cuts, a hand fracture and other injuries.

She said her husband became violent when she wanted him to take their kids to the bus stop while she got ready for work. The couple has five children.

She said she called 911 after he threw her to the ground.

"I was telling him, 'Don't go. The police are coming. You're going to get in more trouble,'" Trisha Guilette said in an interview from her hospital bed. "He took off. I went under (the truck)."

She said she was crouched on her side when the front tires rolled over her.

"I knew the back tires were coming, so I quickly rolled on my belly and quickly tightened up my stomach as fast as I could to try to withhold that pressure," she said.

A neighbor rushed out to help her. She said her husband did not.

"(He) was still yelling at me, blaming me. No remorse," Trisha Guilette said. "He got up and out of jail in five hours, which I think is not fair."

She believes her husband should be charged with attempted murder.

"This was no little spit-spat. This was serious," Trisha Guilette said.

Debbie Tanna, a spokeswoman with the Cumberland County Sheriff's Office, said more charges could be pending for Ronald Guilette.
