FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — Fayetteville police investigators are looking for a man in connection with a robbery and assault that happened Saturday afternoon.

Officials say Mark Maurice Tarver Jr., 22, assaulted a 29-year-old woman who is pregnant with his child after he tried to take several pairs of shoes from her house in the 300 block of Bryan Street, around 3 p.m. Saturday. Tarver was attempting to take those shoes to his wife, police said.

Tarver threw the woman to the ground several times during the robbery, according to police.

The woman was taken to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center, and officials said it does not appear that she or her unborn child sustained life-threatening injuries. Her name has not been released.

Anyone with information about Tarver's whereabouts is asked to contact detectives with the Fayetteville Police Department at 910-433-1856 or Crime Stoppers at 910-483-8477.
