FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — The autopsy of a Fayetteville man found dead in a wooded area in September shows he died after days alone without access to the medicines he needed to treat chronic conditions.

Archie "J.E." Lowery, 56, was the subject of a Silver Alert issued Sept. 12. He was found four days later, a few blocks from where he was reported missing.

The autopsy shows Lowery had heart and liver ailments and diabetes, and those may have contributed to his death. Family members told authorities that he also had some cognitive impairment.
