Fayetteville police on Tuesday arrested and charged a 31-year-old man in connection with an early-morning sexual assault.

Terrell Lavonne Howard, of Sedgedield Drive, is charged with second-degree rape.

According to investigators, the victim gave a person a ride from a gas station to a home in the 1600 block of Ford Lane late Monday. In the overnight hours, the victim was sexually assaulted by one of the occupants of the home.

Two other suspects stole the victim's vehicle, which was later recovered.

Police arrested Howard at the home on Ford Lane and took him to the Cumberland County jail. He was under a $250,000 secured bond Wednesday.

Detectives are still looking for those suspects responsible for stealing the victim's vehicle.

No other information was immediately available.

First of all the courts should make this man cut that mess on his head and remove it. For the rape he should absolutely get 50 years. Young ladies be aware who you allow to ride in your vehicle. How well do you know the person?

I'm confused, what is the difference between first-degree rape and second-degree rape, I always thought that rape was, ah well, rape!
