Fayetteville Internet sweepstakes cafe robbed

Posted June 20, 2012

— A customer and employee were tied up and held at gunpoint while two men robbed an Internet sweepstakes cafe in Fayetteville Wednesday morning, police said.

Andy Floyd, of Vass, stopped by the Little Vegas cafe around 6:30 a.m. when two men walked in to rob the store. Floyd said the robbers restrained him and an employee, tied them up and struck them in the head with a handgun.

The men took about $800 from a safe and fled in Floyd's pickup truck, he said.

"I was laying there praying to God that everything would come out all right," Floyd said. "And it did, except for my truck being gone. That can be replaced. The money can be replaced. I'm lucky to be alive."

His truck – a 2008 Chevrolet Colorado with North Carolina license plate ZYT 3090 – has not been recovered.

Police seized surveillance video from the cafe. No arrests have been made.

Kermit60, you are correct! I used to live there too, wouldn't dream of living there now! Too scary! Don't even go there unless I need or want something I can only get there because Cary or Raleigh doesn't have it...like George's gyro's--best on the planet at the Yadkin Rd. location! Needless to say as much as I like George's it's not a necessity so I don't go to Fayetteville often...not to mention going through Spring Lake can be unnerving, I think it's worse than Fayetteville! Yes, crime does happen everywhere else everyday too, but you don't seem to hear or read about it to the extent it seems to happen in Spring Lake and Fayetteville.

This is a new story, and this does NOT happen every day in FayetteVILLE! If you can't say something nice about our community, please keep your opinion to yourself. I was born and raised here and I love it here, despite the crime that occurs here - and everywhere for that matter.

This happens every day in Fayettnam. Could you print a story that is actually something new?
