Fayetteville considers hotel incentives

Posted November 2, 2009

— Fayetteville City Council members on Monday decided to move forward with an incentives proposal to lure a luxury hotel to the city

City leaders said a luxury hotel is necessary because of the influx of new people to the area from the base realignment plan.

Incentives could include property tax grant-backs and public money to build water and sewer lines.

The council will revisit the proposal in late November or early December, according to city spokeswoman Jackie Tuckey.

No luxury hotel will ever go to Fayettville.

There is no corporate need there.
Yes there is a lot of government but the government rate is 89 bucks a nite-

    Which equals limited service properties.

Although I think there is a Embassy suits being built there.

Thats gonna be the top of line for that town

There is a lot of things to do in Fayetteville that you simply do not find elsewhere in surrounding cities. It has been my experience that those who speak negatively of Fayetteville are the people who have never been there.

I agree...we are not a festering dump. We are no different from any big town in NC. I love Fayetteville and the variety here...I just do not like vacant buildings.

Fayetteville is not a 'festering dump'. I'm curious to know why you think so, redstarlean. Do you live there? Work there? Have you ever been there?

We have enough here, how about fixing the dumpy ones and not building more? I am so tired of vacant buildings in this town.
