— The Fascinate-U Children’s Museum in Fayetteville closed Wednesday after a sign fell off the wall and hit a 6-year-old patron.

The girl was taken by ambulance to the Cape Fear Medical Center where she was treated and released for a gash on head.

The museum, at 116 Green St. in downtown Fayetteville, will remain closed until further notice, museum officials said.

They are working to determine the cause of the accident and prevent it from happening again.

Wow, i just took my daughter there about a month ago. she loved it. I use to take my near nine yr old there when he was a little older than 1. It is a fun place for children where they can play on fake news sets, fire trucks, court room, police car and so much more. You basicly watch your children there. Maybe someone knock something and it finally fell. I am glad the child is ok.

What kind of sign are we talking about? A 10'x20' sign may take a couple of hours to figure out why it fell (like who hung it and how). If we are talking about a smaller sign (like 18"x18"), how much investigation does it take? Either way, it's not a MAJOR investigation. Furthermore, I would say closing the museum for a "gash" may be a bit "extreme".

Must be a slow news day...
