FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — Just three years after it planned an ambitious expansion plan, the Fayetteville Museum of Art is closing its doors.

Eight staff members will lose their jobs when the museum closes May 31.

Museum trustees said Thursday they can no longer afford to staff and operate the building. They have not decided how to disperse the museum's collections.

The museum is a non-profit, funded though donations and grants from the Arts Council of Fayetteville-Cumberland County.
