Fayetteville approves resolution over Gates Four community annexation

Posted July 28, 2008

— The City of Fayetteville made a second attempt to annex Gates Four Golf and Country Club.

The residents of Gates Four won a temporary stay from annexation when they fought a city plan in 2004.

Monday evening, the Fayetteville City Council took up the issue again, with an eye towards taking over the 600-home community by the end of October.

The council approved a resolution of intent 7 to 3. Public hearings must now be held on the matter.

Gates Four homeowners still oppose the plan, but have accepted it as inevitable, Mike Moline, secretary of the homeowners association, said.

Annex everybody! You set up shop right outside the city limits and enjoy everything the city has to offer for free. Good! They also should have annexed Eastover, they got off because of the good ole boy network.

I for one am glad that Fayetteville annexed me in the Cliffdale area.
I no longer have to take my trash out 2 times a week. I get many more opportunities to pay higher taxes with less services. I can now drive things like couches and chairs to refuse sites instead of having it picked up curbside. I no longer have to see the county law enforcement officers drive past my house daily, I only have to see the city police every three weeks or so. I can look forward to having notices placed on my door if I go on a vacation and can't mow the grass for two weeks.

Fayetteville's annexing of my area has changed me forever and boy I'm in heaven now.

Isn't that what most involuntary annexations are about: immense greed on the part of the municipalities? That and the inability to manage their money and the need to suck in more taxpayers to support their continued mismanagement?

Fayetteville won't give up until they can get that tax money from those expensive homes!
