Get ready for what sponsors say is the largest children’s consignment sale in the Sandhills. The Hugs & Kisses fall sale is set for Aug. 13 to Aug. 15 at the Crown Expo in Fayetteville. Doors open at 10 a.m. and there is no charge for admission or parking.
The kids will love both the traditional and contemporary tunes to be enjoyed by the Army Ground Forces Band’s Summer Concert Series at Fayetteville’s Festival Park. The event is set for 7 p.m., Thursday, Aug. 14. The concert is free and open to the public.
Looking for a way to celebrate National Airborne Day on Saturday, Aug. 16? It’s a perfect day to visit the Airborne & Special Operations Museum in downtown Fayetteville. Hours are from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Admission is free. The museum is also celebrating its 14th anniversary!
Are your children fascinated by planes, trains and automobiles? Be sure to pay a visit to the Fayetteville Area Transportation and Local History Museum, located at 325 Franklin St. in downtown Fayetteville. My son especially likes the model train room and the recreated 1920s gas station. It's open 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Tuesday through Saturday. Questions? Call 910-433-1457.
If you’re searching for a last-minute summer adventure for your older kids, look no further than Fayetteville’s ZipQuest. USA Today named it one of the 10 greatest zip lines in the United States! The 2 ½ hour treetop adventure has 8 zip lines and 3 suspension bridges. Ages 10 and up. I must admit, I am way too chicken to try this, but my husband has, and he loved it!
