Father, son arrested for drugs on I-95

Posted March 4, 2009

— Cumberland County deputies arrested a father and son Wednesday for allegedly trafficking drugs on Interstate 95.

Marcos Cesar Nunez-Olaverria, 80, of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., and Jose Orlando Nunez-Polanco, 41, of Philadelphia, were taken to the Cumberland County Detention Center where each was held on $1.5 million secured bond. They are charged with felony trafficking.

Deputies stopped the men on a traffic violation. In searching their vehicle, deputies found heroin and cocaine with inside luggage in the back of the car. Deputies estimated the drugs were worth more than $1 million if sold on the street.

Authorities could put a dent in drug trafficking by stopping all the cars from south Florida coming up 95.

Iworkforaliving, the hyphenated names are usually an Anglicized version of Latino last names; the first is the father's birth name, which is used by the son or daughter as a last name, and the name after the hyphen is the mother's birth name, which is sometimes used on formal documents. Therefore, Marissa Theresa Reyes Rodriguez, Ph.D. is the daughter of Manuel Reyes and Silvia Rodriguez. She would be known as Dr. Reyes, although her diplomas might have all of the names on them.
